OMG! I still can’t believe it. It was a rainy mess at the start, but at the end, Fernando Alonso crossed the finish line first. Just Amazing! – Full results here.
Despite the win, the team is realistic about the victory. They’re not where they want to be and they know they still have a lot of work to do this season. But hey! A win is a win!
Per the Jalopnik article, this accident was a result of “…excessive speed and rain slicked roads…” The driver and passenger survived.

See! Just like I thought – Ferrari is already making excuses as to why it’s not going to win the first race. And what about McLaren and Red Bull? They’re G2G!

We’re only one month away from the start of the 2012 season and I can hardly wait to see if all of Ferrari’s posturing last year, about preparing for this year, is going to translate into wins or just wishful thinking. Someone has to win the first race and if Ferrari doesn’t put someone on the podium, we’re going to get that same rhetoric that we hear from all the teams – “It’s early in the season…”, “We’re still testing some of the changes…”, “The other teams are really competitive..” Yeah. Right.
The team that wins probably doesn’t have a problem that it’s early in the season, or that they’ve made changes to the car, or that the other teams are competitive. So why should Ferrari?
My expectations are really high and I really hope Ferrari doesn’t disappoint me.
I find it very interesting that the “official” Formula1 live timing app for Android is $30.80. This pretty much prevents the majority of school-aged individuals through college from buying this app. You would think that Formula1 would want to make it easy for today’s youth to follow the sport.
A free, ad-based app, would make just as much money – if not more money, still generate enough revenue for the developers to make a profit, and make it easy for everyone who is interesting in F1 to follow racing on the go. But I guess the decision makers within F1 have no clue as to how the business model works on Android. Even $4.99 is still considered reasonable.
On the public relations side of the house, charging this much for the app just hurts the fan base and erodes their loyalty to the sport. The more races people miss out on, the less interested they become. What a shame.
Wasn’t last year’s official app free?

According to Italian Motor Valley, the Enzo Ferrari Museum is scheduled to open in less than three months.
“It is with great satisfaction and enthusiasm that, after years of intense work by the Fondazione Casa di Enzo Ferrari, we are on the point of inaugurating this important cultural asset, that will tell the world the story of this great figure and the vocation for motoring of this area”, says Mauro Tedeschini, President of the Fondazione Casa di Enzo Ferrari.
I bet it will be a huge success! Read the full story here.
